These are really great if you don’t really know how to do great bass lines. I like to listen to the wav files and then use the midis with a synth of your choice. The one shots are great to load into Live or Reason. I will be getting the next volume.

Great basslines. Great midi. The volume one has less complex basslines than volume two. Both are good. Sometimes simple is good, sometimes complex is good. I am really liking this. It has all the basic standard basslines in one folder. I don’t use many of the included samples but they are very high quality so maybe I’ll give them a try. It is easy to just drag the midi into a synth and experiment from there.

As the description says – 19 nicely organized groups of midi files, bass sample one shots, and sequences (in BPM labeled folders), with some groups having multiple types of bass sequence labeled “Acid” or some form of bass.
The recordings are not all perfect, but most are surprisingly “useable” especially given the age of this package, after a little (or no) tweaking. The sequences are not at all complicated – but nice and simple, and part of the appeal is having good, simple, universal rhythm section patterns to use that you don’t have to program or record yourself. A quick common bassline starter kit to hit the ground rolling with.
This is the kind of package I like to see – not just a bunch of neat loops, you can use the loops as is or put the sequences or shots together with midi and mix them up any way you wish quickly and conveniently – a versatile package that shows a lot of care and work in its making and worth every penny. Quite honestly, I’m surprised and delighted I got it so cheap.
